Sidewalk Poetry
Castro Street, San Francisco April 2002

Sidewalk Poetry is an idea I had to bring poetry back to the everyday person walking down the street. I set up a typewriter on the sidewalk and waited for people to come by. I would offer to write them a poem, in exchange for a word. The title of the poem is the word that I was given. Click, click, click. A poem is written with their word as the inspiration. I gave each person a copy of their poem and kept a carbon copy for myself.
